Diversity management is ever-evolving, and DiversityInc's annual Top 50 list shines a light on the progress companies are making in refining and executing inclusion strategies. According to the company, the results of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity List come exclusively from corporate survey submissions from companies with at least 1,000 employees in the U.S. Those companies are evaluated within the context of their own industries, and every participating company receives a free report card that assesses its performance versus its competitors. Participation in the survey is free and companies cannot pay to appear on it. Related: Diversity and inclusion highlight list of emerging employer trends When establishing its list, DiversityInc looks at six specific areas of diversity and inclusion management: Human capital diversity metrics, leadership accountability, talent programs, workplace practices, supplier diversity, and philanthropy. The top company on the 2019 list was AT&T, which made its first appearance at number 23 on DiversityInc's first Top 50 list in 2001.
