Most people hear about body part insurance through celebrities and athletes, who often make the news by insuring the parts of themselves to which they owe their livelihoods (and a lot of cash flow). For instance, Bruce Springsteen insured his voice for nearly $5 million with Lloyd's of London. Heidi Klum had her legs insured for $2 million during her time hosting "Project Runway," while David Beckham had his own legs insured for $140 million in 2006. A People magazine report said Daniel Craig—possibly concerned about being shaken and stirred while doing his own stunts—insured his entire body for $9.5 million before filming the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace." But what about the rest of us who aren't famous? What body parts would your ordinary person on the street insure? A survey conducted by Finder.com and reported by QuickQuote has some surprising insights. The study reached out to 1,718 U.S. adults from five different generations: Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z. The data was broken down by generation and gender. The body part respondents cared least about insuring? The nose. Only 21.36% of Americans were concerned enough about their schnozzes to take out a policy, but 27.1% of Gen Z respondents said they would consider nose insurance. The biggest difference between the sexes? More men (30.9%) than women (17.4%) would insure their sexual organs, a gap of 13.5%. Body part insurance premiums are so high because the policies are intensely personalized. "The average person would be better off buying a traditional form of insurance or general disability insurance," said Linda Chavez, founder and CEO of Seniors Life Insurance Finder. "Body part insurance costs far more than regular insurance and does not offer coverage if they suffer injuries on other parts of their bodies."
