This episode of the Beyond Benefits podcast features a fascinating and far-ranging conversation with Dave Chase, chief archaeologist, co-founder and CEO of Health Rosetta.

Dave Chase, Chief Archaeologist, Co-founder & CEO, Health Rosetta

He discusses the personal tragedy that drew his attention to the systemic failures taking place in health care and motivated him to join the fight: “The way I was raised, if you see a problem and you don't do something about it, you're complicit.”

We also discuss the origins of Health Rosetta, including Chase’s inspiration from historical social movements and revolutions, how a relatively small spark can create a cultural wildfire, and his quest to find and gather a community of advisors and employers who have “cracked the code.”

As the discussion moves along, we touch on the evolution and future of Health Rosetta, including the nonprofit Nautilus Health Institute, and the upcoming RosettaFest, where more than a thousand benefits advisors, employers, clinicians and solutions providers will gather in Denver to “build a new health care economy.”.

Chase also shares some of the industry trends he’s most excited about, including the skyrocketing acceptance of direct primary care and advanced primary care, after years of roadblocks and frustration. In addition, we discuss the growing number of fiduciary lawsuits currently hitting health care and benefits and how the coming tsunami could reshape the industry, just as it has done in the retirement space.

And as always, we also dive into a number of fun topics, including the joys of oxygen-fueled sports, a bunch of great book recommendations, ranging from “cli-fi” to wisdom literature to collections of indigenous insights into the natural world. Oh, and Chase also shares his favorite track and field event, which he describes as “just chaos and mayhem and elbows and people going down and crashing and burning.” Any guesses which one he means?
