Our latest conversation is with Clint Flanagan, a board-certified physician, direct-primary care pioneer, entrepreneur, and the founder and CMO of Nextera Healthcare. Dr. Flanagan has been around DPC since its earliest days and he has some fascinating insights about the incredible transformation that it has undergone over the years. We delve into the more recent “localvore” movement, its relationship with DPC and current health care trends, and we also discuss why describing DPC as “innovative” isn’t entirely accurate.
As the conversation moves along, Dr. Flanagan also digs into how certain recent legislative trends and vertical integration in the health care space are impacting providers, while offering insights into the role that advisors and business leaders play in controlling cost and improving quality. He also shares some great advice for advisors and HR professionals ahead of the upcoming open enrollment season.
Oh, and no conversation these days is complete without delving into the role of technology, including artificial intelligence. Will AI replace docs? Not likely. And in fact, Dr. Flanagan believes technology can actually help make the provider/patient experience even more human.
As regular listeners have come to expect, we also share some fun book and podcast recommendations and, since we’re all Coloradans, we chat about the benefits of living and playing in the Centennial State, whether by the water, in the mountains, or on the ski slopes.
And be sure to stick around to the end, where Dr. Flanagan prescribes “the best drugs out there.” Spoiler alert: it’s not GLP-1s!
