For middle-class Americans, job-based health benefits equal 9% of total income

What You Need To Know

For U.S. households in the middle fifth in terms of income, health benefits spending amounted to about 9% of income.
Federal health benefits tax breaks amounted to about 2.5% of income for those households.
The tax breaks amounted to only about 1% of income for households in the lowest income group and the highest income group.
