Anthem to penalize California hospitals for out-of-network doctors

What You Need To Know

Anthem thinks in-network hospitals should treat its enrollees with in-network physicians.
In California, the 10% penalty will apply only to bills for patients in self-insured employer health plans.
The penalty will not apply to emergency care, rural hospitals, critical access hospitals or safety-net hospitals.
