The drug, MariTide, helped patients lose up to 14.5% of their body weight in 12 weeks, and some people kept the weight off for up to 150 days after stopping the drug.
Reversing a controversial recommendation by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force in 2009, the panel now states that women between ages 40 and 74 should have screenings every two years.
Perrigo, which sought FDA approval for an over-the-counter version last summer after the Supreme Court's ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, expects a final decision by the end of summer in the U.S.
The agency also simplified the COVID vaccination process, saying that anyone getting a Pfizer or Moderna dose — whether it's a booster or their first-ever vaccination — will get the newest formula, not the original shots.
Democratic-voting counties had an overall 15% lower death rate than Republican counties in 2019, up from a 3% difference in 2001.
