There is an apparent communication disconnect between employersand employees when it comes to benefit satisfaction andpreferences, according to a survey conducted by HR DailyAdvisor/Business & Legal Resources.

The survey, which polled close to 1,000 HR Daily Advisorreaders, pointed out that 68 percent of employers don’t surveyemployees about their satisfaction with benefits. Additionally, 74percent of employers polled don’t formally survey employees aboutthe latter’s benefit preferences, and only 56 percent said theyprovide an overview to employees demonstrating benefit costs to thecompany.

On the other side of the coin, 78 percent of those asked believetheir employees to be “either very happy or somewhat happy” withtheir benefits.

The apparent lack of communication is a concern to HR DailyAdvisor Editor Stephen Bruce.

“Benefits communication is especially critical these days,” hecommented in a press release. “With little going on in the raisedepartment, employers need to be sure that employees trulyappreciate the cost of the benefits they’re getting. Thissurvey highlights some important trends for HR professionals toconsider as they continue to reassess their benefits policies.
