Employers ranked Kaiser Permanente's health plan the highest among fully insured commercial health plans in a recent study of health insurance plans by J.D. Power and Associates.

The 2011 J.D. Power and Associates 2011 U.S. Employer Health Insurance Plan Study examined overall satisfaction with contracted health plans, as reported by more than 7,000 employers responsible for health benefit design and health insurance carrier performance. The study was conducted between March and April 2011.

Kaiser Permanente scored 714 points (the average score was 671) out of a possible 1,000, and received the highest marks in five areas of employer satisfaction:

  1. Employee plan service experience
  2. Account servicing
  3. Product offering/benefit design
  4. Problem resolution
  5. Cost/cost management.

One of Kaiser Permanente's workforce health programs, HealthWorks by Kaiser Permanente, provides services that help businesses build strategies to improve employee health. As part of their effort, businesses can access free, online workforce health tools and resources via "Thrive 9 to 5."

"We have long recognized the importance of a healthy workforce and the need for employers to manage their health care costs," said Elisa Mendel, national vice president, Kaiser Permanente HealthWorks in a statement. "As companies invest in preventive care and employee wellness programs, many employers will continue to see positive results, including reduced absenteeism and presenteeism, and increased productivity and morale."
