According to a Globoforce survey, 38 percent of employed Americans are considering leaving their jobs, regardless of the current economic climate and job prospects.

Additionally, 39 percent of respondents say they don't feel appreciated at work, a hike from 32 percent, and 52 percent are dissatisfied with their received recognition, a jump from 41 percent. Thus, nearly half of respondents reveal that they would switch jobs for an employer that clearly recognized employees for their efforts and contributions.

The survey also finds there is a connection between a lack of recognition and possible turnover. Of the respondents who say they anticipate looking for a new job this year only 24 percent are satisfied with the level of recognition they receive on the job while 63 percent of employees who do not plan to leave are satisfied with their recognition level.
