For the more than 12 million beneficiaries enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, resolving to make the most of their coverage could result in improved health and more money in their pockets in 2012.

"The start of a new year is the perfect time to take stock of the coverage and benefits available to you through your Medicare Advantage plan," says Rhonda Randall, chief medical officer of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement. Offered by private insurers like UnitedHealthcare, Medicare Advantage plans combine Medicare Part A – hospitalization coverage – and Part B – coverage for routine doctor visits – into one plan that often includes additional benefits and Part D prescription drug coverage.
