Online giant E*TRADE will be hosting its first Retirement Education Day on Thursday, March 29, with a litany of live webinars and an in-person seminar in Los Angeles, which will also be carried on the web. The day will close with Retirement Evening events at each of E*TRADE's 28 retail branches, across the country.
According to the company's own research, only 11 percent of investors are currently using available retirement planning tools. The day's sessions aim to increase access and use of those tools with speakers from companies including S&P Capital IQ, Morningstar, iShares and WisdomTree.
Topics covered include the basics of opening a retirement account to managing a retirement portfolio.

"Many Americans understand the need to plan for retirement, but have a hard time taking the first steps to get started or staying aligned with their goals," said Michael Loewengart, an investment strategist with E*TRADE.
