POULTNEY, Vt. (AP) — An agreement has been reached between striking Vermont teachers and school administrators in the Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union, bringing a six-day strike to a close.

Both sides met Wednesday and talks went on late. The teachers union said in a news release Thursday that the deal came after almost 12 hours of talks with a federal mediator.

The strike had closed five schools. Classes were expected to resume Thursday.
