NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are edging higher in early trading on Wall Street, not enough to erase the market's loss for the week.
The Dow Jones industrial average edged up four points, just 0.03 percent, to 15,502 shortly after the opening of trading Friday.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up a point, or 0.1 percent, at 1,699.

The Nasdaq composite was up six, or 0.2 percent, to 3,676.
The S&P 500 is on track to post its first weekly loss in seven weeks. It closed at a record high a week ago.
The market has been mostly slipping this week as companies report mixed earnings and disappointing revenue.
Power provider NRG Energy fell 1.7 percent to $26.42 after its quarterly income fell by half. Its revenue fell short of analysts' estimates.
