Forget big. Carriers are thinking small — at least when it comes to the exchanges. Array Health says that single-carrier, proprietary exchanges will be the next big thing in the marketplace in a few years.

More than three-quarters of health care industry professionals — which include carriers, brokers and TPAs — predict most carriers will offer private single-insurer exchanges by the end of 2016, rather than joining multi-carrier exchanges, according to a new report out about the private health exchange adoption from Array Health. And 93 percent believe most carriers will have their own exchange by 2018.
