Standard Insurance Company recently announced that it will be launching an Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) occupational assistance service, the first of its kind in the industry, according to the company. The feature helps employees who have experienced an AD&D loss to return to work and lead productive lives.
"For the first time, a service is available to those who have experienced an AD&D loss that provides more than just a reimbursement. Our team of vocational, nurse and behavioral health consultants are available to help assess each individual's needs for returning to work and execute on a plan that is customized and therefore more effective," The Standard's marketing product manager Jennifer Gassaway said in a press release. "The service doesn't simply help an employee — the employer benefits as well, as the employer is more likely to see the return of a valued employee, avoiding the loss of expertise and having to hire."

The benefit will be a complementary addition to The Standard's group AD&D and life insurance products and offer eligible employees access to The Standard's Workplace Possibilities consultants, who will help them address new challenges and get back to work. Collaborating with the employer, employee and the medical team, the consultants will incorporate knowledge of the medical condition and understanding of job roles and daily responsibilities to create a rehabilitation plan.
In addition, the AD&D Occupational Assistance service will cover up to $10,000 of approved return-to-work expenses, ergonomic equipment, and cost of accommodations and vocational assistance.
