1. Swag | Low-cost giveaways are almost an expectation at industry expos, but they don't have to be boring. Among this year's notable offerings: computer cords, phone stands, spinners and back scratchers.
No matter what industries you've worked in, chances are you've attended at least one expo during your career. Whether you're looking for a specific product or vendor or just browsing to see what's out there, you've probably noticed some exhibitors go out of their way to entice attendees into their booths. Some displays are a little more product-relevant. For example, if you're lucky enough to attend the National Recreation and Parks Conference, (as I did many times while covering that industry at my previous job ), you're invited into a world of jungle gyms, climbing walls and sports equipment (and also dog-poop-bag dispensers, fencing and trash cans). More valuable to exhibitors and attendees alike are giveaway drawings -- either in the form of a gift card or expensive swag. Just drop your business card into the fish bowl for your chance to win! Once the attendee is in the booth, the real conversation can start. We hope attendees at this year's BenefitsPRO Broker Expo found a lot of good information, ideas and connections in this year's exhibit hall, and congratulations to everyone who took home a prize, as well.
