With less than five weeks left until President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office, all eyes are on the changes that will come with the new administration. One of the key areas the benefits industry is focused on is health care policy. That's why the BenefitsPRO team recently hosted a Twitter chat discussing what health care policy issues benefits advisors and employers should have on their radar for 2021, what questions they're getting from clients, COVID-19 concerns and more.
Editor-in-Chief Paul Wilson and managing editor Emily Payne were joined by six panelists including Kim Buckey of DirectPath, Jen Berman of MZQ Consulting, Marcy Buckner of The National Association of Health Underwriters, Brady Bizarro of The Phia Group, Tracy Watts of Mercer and Seth Denson of GDP Advisors.

To kick off the chat, we asked "What major health care policy issues should employers have on their radar going into 2021?" Berman replied that there will be a lot going on in 2021 when it comes to health care policy.
"Transparency, surprise billing, HIPAA?!!, increased enforcement… It's going to be a busy year!!" Berman tweeted.

We also field many questions about COVID-19 vaccines. Will plans have to cover them? How much will they cost? Should employers make them mandatory? What are the liability concerns? @ThePhiaGroup #BPROHealthcare

We will see more nationwide communications campaigns–"Get Your Shot" to overcome misinformation/misconceptions about vaccine. Push to wear masks at least for 100 days, etc. #BPROhealthcare

1) Require full & complete transparency of ALL claims/costs & procedures.
2) Allow H.S.A's to be funded with or without "credible" plans; and
3) STOP the consolidation of the market b/t Inusurance Co's & PBM's.
Oh, there are so many more things on my #WishList. #BPROhealthcare— Seth Denson (@SethDenson) December 15, 2020
