Private equity's role in health care provider markets is an ongoing and evolving challenge, and there are no signs that PE's interest in health care markets is waning, the study found.

The FTC rolled out new merger-review hurdles that it says are partly aimed at addressing congressional concerns that subsidies by foreign powers such as China "can distort the competitive process."

"Companies that try to change the rules of the game by re-writing their privacy policy are on notice," Samuel Levine, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement Friday.
