The high cost of health care, the impact of extreme weather and high liability costs are not good for the U.S. economy, John Doyle, CEO of Marsh said.

Emergency visits accounted for two-thirds of all visits from the third quarter of 2024 through the second quarter of 2025.

“Medical debt is a tremendous weight, keeping so many families from financial security, and, unlike most other forms of debt, it’s not a choice," Democratic Gov. Josh Stein said in announcing the debt relief earlier this week.

“Taken together, these changes could lead more consumers to purchase less-expensive and less-comprehensive coverage, such as short-term plans, instead of a more comprehensive ACA plan this open enrollment season,” according to a new report from KFF.

Gavin Newsom vetoed some health benefits bills, arguing that those bills would do too much to weaken health plan care utilization management efforts and increase plan costs.

The leaders of 15 jurisdictions joined in the launch, but the Democrats in charge of 10 other jurisdictions did not.
