It's hard to believe it's almost Thanksgiving!  I was very lucky to get to be in Austin for the WIFS National Conference this year, where I got to meet Katherine and Holly.  Both women are incredible in their own right, and both women are taking on new roles in our industry and working tirelessly to make an impact in their communities and abroad.  I'm excited to introduce you all to them this month and I'm sure after having a glimpse into their lives, you'll be thankful I did.  Please welcome Katherine and Holly to our amazing community of movers and shakers in the industry!

When I decided to leave corporate America and join my father in business, it was out of a desire to positively influence the lives in my community, both through retirement planning and the philanthropic opportunities that came along with my involvement in the industry.

My career goal has always been to protect my clients so that when and if an obstacle arises in their lives, their lifestyle does not change. My biggest accomplishment in this regard came when I was referred to a gentleman with Parkinson's Disease. By the time I came to know my client, he had already advanced into his disease and was hoping to find a way to make his money last through the long-term care he would need in the years to come. After years of providing for his family, my client was left with a modest pension. Finding contracts for a plan can be difficult when a client has a pre-existing condition; however I was able to find such a contract and present the client and his family with a finalized plan. I am proud to say that this plan has been implemented, and that my client continues to have the funds necessary to facilitate his care and lifestyle. “

“I have so much to celebrate this year!  I began my career in the financial services industry in the 90s and served as one of very few female executives at my firm.  I was often the only women at the table.  While I truly enjoyed my role and working with bright, inspiring colleagues, the constant travel and rigors of the job left little time for the most important part of my life: raising my family.  After much soul searching, I became an entrepreneur so I could have flexibility, which was not offered on Wall Street at that time.   This past year, I was inspired to relaunch my financial services career.  I was fortunately connected to a forward-thinking female executive, and a company that hopes to change the narrative between women and the financial services industry.  I am so proud to be a part of a creative, start-up company, myWorth LLC, powered by Penn Mutual.   myWorth has given me the ability to use my financial services background, along with my entrepreneurial spirit, to help women take control of their financial futures. This mission is perfect for the “second act” of my career as I am passionate about helping women feel confident and secure about their financial wellness.  It was a pleasure to meet so many amazing women at the WIFS conference who share this same passion!”

And as always, if you know of great women in the field who are working hard to make this industry even better, send me an email introduction at [email protected] I'd love to connect!
