Benefits brokers: Let's talk about the elephant in the room

Why, after years of saying the right things and vowing to do better, does our industry still look so much like it always has?

So far, 2020 has been an eye opening year in a number of ways. And let’s face it, most of them haven’t been good. Most recently, the murder of George Floyd has drawn national attention to the systemic racism and inequality faced by Black Americans and other people of color in the United States.

Unfortunately, our own industry provides a microcosm of some of the larger issues facing our country. As we’ve discussed in this magazine many times before, in an environment and community where so much is going right, a notable lack of diversity and inclusion continues to hold the benefits world back in a number of ways.
