“It’s hard not to look around and wonder, are we going forward or are we going backward?” When Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Eugene Robinson spoke these words at the recent BenefitsPRO Broker Expo, he was talking about the current state of our country. But over the past few years, many of us have probably had similar misgivings about our industry and health care in the U.S.

Despite acknowledging the ongoing challenges and roadblocks, Robinson’s message was ultimately one of perseverance and progress, a theme that carried on throughout the Expo’s three days. In keynote sessions, breakout panels and conversations in the halls and on the exhibit floor, enthusiasm and optimism about the future was palpable and contagious.
