Hoping to revive his flagging bid for the Republican presidential nomination, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is calling for an overhaul of the way Americans pay taxes and buy health care and would allow young people to opt out of the Social Security system.
A handful of high-profile Republicans eying the White House told hundreds of conservative activists this weekend that most Americans agree with their values, and insisted that opposition to the president's health care overhaul could help the GOP make historic gains in 2012.
