Operating in the red: Half of rural hospitals lose money, as many cut services

Nearly a quarter of rural hospitals across the U.S. have closed their obstetrics units and 382 have stopped providing chemotherapy, while 418 hospitals have been identified as "vulnerable to closure," according to a new report.
