The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act for the first time establishes federal guardrails for stablecoin, which are digital assets pegged to the U.S. dollar designed to maintain a stable value that would be under regulatory supervision.

A federal court overruled the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation’s decision not to offer financial assistance to the bakery fund, but it now opens the door to 100 other previously ineligible pension plans to apply for special financial assistance, says the risk advisory letter.

“With 50% of employees not confident they can turn their retirement savings into a consistent stream of income for the rest of their lives, many organizations are rethinking pension strategies and how best to support their workforce,” said Scott Jarboe, Mercer’s U.S. defined benefit segment leader.

That’s one year sooner than previously forecast, according to the just-released Social Security Administration’s annual Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports, which urge lawmakers to “quickly enact legislation to make the necessary adjustments.”
