There was a time in the United States when HMOs were the biggest thing in health care. They still are in Israel, a country thats been using HMOs as major care providers (and, later, the countrys primary care provider) since before the state was even created.

President Barack Obama sounded a nostalgic personal note Sunday night and offered a rare self-assessment while criticizing congressional Republicans as an "impediment" to governing during the start of a West Coast fundraising tour for the Democratic Party.

There won't be a magic moment, but the Obama administration's much-maligned health insurance website should be able to weather an expected year-end crush of customers, officials asserted Friday.

The Obama administration announced they are giving consumers an extra eight days to sign up for health coverage that takes effect Jan. 1.

To avoid Obamacare emerging as an election issue for fellow Democrats next year, the president wants to simply brush it under the rug or ballot box so voters wont be bothered by such pesky bad news.
