Younger workers, those who earn less and those with small account balances, are cashing out at the highest rates, a trend that has remained consistent over the past five years.

Employers are squeezing their workers retirement savings, holding back on both the amount and the timing of 401(k) matching funds and dragging out vesting schedules.

However, that improvement varied by age, income and whether individuals had access to a 401(k)-type retirement plan, according to a report by the Employee Benefit Research Institute.

The move will help lower the unfunded pension liabilities in the $8 billion Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System.

AOL announced that only employees who are active on Dec. 31 will be given a matching contribution. And that total wouldnt be distributed until the following year.
