The combination of historically high inflation and fluctuating interest rates threatens to erode the income-generating strategies for retirees that have prevailed for the last two decades, according to a new report.
Plan sponsors, their members, and benefits advisors were given new resources and options for 2023 benefits planning with Congress's passage of the omnibus spending bill in late December.
Some advisors may be underestimating the level of anxiety their clients are living through and should seize the opportunity to help them understand the value of protection solutions, like annuities, says a new study.
Controlling clinical costs and clinical quality emerged as the No. 1 motivator for implementing population health plans, as cited by 31% of respondents.
Employers can help earlier in a plan member's career by offering financial planning as a benefit, by encouraging a better understanding of how HSAs work and by offering education on prescription drug affordability strategies.
"When people enroll into Medicare for the first time or during the Annual Enrollment Period, it is important to analyze all the options so they can make a mindful Medicare decision," Medicare consultant Michael Friedman says.
